I hear it all the time: 'Coach, I just didn't have the motivation today.'

Let's get one thing straight right now: Motivation is a liar. It's a fleeting emotion. It shows up when the sun is shining, when you've had a full eight hours of sleep, and when life is easy. But what happens when it's raining? When you're stressed? When your alarm goes off at 5 AM and the bed is warm?

Motivation abandons you. Discipline is what drags you out of bed.

At One Star Fitness, we don't train based on how we feel. We train based on the standards we set for ourselves. Discipline is a system. It's a contract you make with yourself. When you rely on motivation, you're giving your emotions the steering wheel. When you build discipline, you take the wheel back.

You don't need to 'feel like it' to wrap your hands. You don't need to 'feel like it' to lift the weight. You just need to execute. The feeling of accomplishment comes after the work is done, never before.
