Boxing Coaching in Syracuse, NY
Real Technique. Real Coaching. No Gimmicks.
Train 1-on-1 with Coach O — BJJ Black Belt, certified personal trainer, and boxing coach based in Syracuse.
This isn’t cardio-boxing. It’s not a group fitness class where you shadowbox to a playlist and call it a workout. This is real boxing coaching — footwork, defense, combinations, head movement, and ring IQ — built for people who want to learn the sweet science the right way.
Whether you’ve never wrapped your hands or you’re sharpening up for competition, you’re in the right place.
Who This Is For
Coach O works with athletes at every level. The common thread? You show up, you work, and you want to get better.
- Beginners — Never thrown a punch? No problem. You’ll learn stance, basic punches, footwork, and defense from the ground up.
- Intermediate — You’ve got the basics. Now we tighten technique, add combinations, introduce sparring concepts, and build fight IQ.
- Advanced / Fighters — Competition prep, advanced tactics, film breakdown, and sharpening the tools you already have.
- Fitness-Focused — You want the conditioning of a fighter without the contact. All the skill, none of the sparring. Boxing is one of the best full-body workouts on the planet — and way more fun than a treadmill.

What You’ll Learn
Every session is structured around real boxing fundamentals. Here’s what we cover:
| Area | Focus |
|---|---|
| Footwork | Balance, pivots, angles, moving with purpose. You can’t punch what you can’t reach — and you can’t defend if you’re off-balance. |
| Defense | Parries, blocks, slips, rolls, and head movement. Learn to make them miss before you learn to make them pay. |
| Combinations | From 1-2 fundamentals to advanced 5- and 6-punch sequences. Speed, rhythm, and flow. |
| Ring IQ | Reading opponents, setting traps, controlling range, and fighting smart — not just hard. |
| Conditioning | Fight-specific cardio: interval rounds, mitt work, heavy bag rounds, and footwork drills that gas-proof you. |
| Bag Work | Heavy bag, double-end bag, and speed bag technique. Power, timing, and rhythm development. |
Why Coach O?
I’m not a fitness influencer who took a weekend boxing cert. I’ve spent decades in combat sports — BJJ Black Belt, certified personal trainer, and boxing coach who’s worked with everyone from first-timers to competitive fighters.
My approach is simple: teach real technique, build real confidence, and meet every athlete where they are. No ego. No intimidation. No cookie-cutter programs. Just focused, individualized coaching that gets results — whether your goal is to compete, get in fighting shape, or finally learn how to throw a proper hook.
Every session is built around you — your level, your goals, your pace. I don’t do assembly-line training. You get my full attention, every round.
Train the body. Sharpen the mind. Build the fighter.

I’ve trained at a few different gyms and Coach O’s attention to detail is next level. He catches things other coaches miss. My combinations are cleaner, my defense is tighter, and I actually understand why I’m doing what I’m doing.

I was nervous about starting boxing in my 40s. Coach O met me where I was, worked around my old injuries, and got me in the best shape of my life. Best decision I’ve made for my health in years.

FAQ — Boxing Coaching
Do I need experience to start?
Zero. Most people who walk through the door have never thrown a punch. That’s the point — you’re here to learn.
What should I bring to my first session?
Comfortable workout clothes, a water bottle, and hand wraps if you have them. I provide gloves for beginners, but you’re welcome to bring your own.
Is there sparring?
Sparring is optional and only introduced when you’re ready — technically and mentally. It’s always controlled, always supervised, and never ego-driven. For fitness-focused clients, we skip sparring entirely.
How long is a session?
60 minutes. That includes warm-up, technical work, mitt rounds or bag work, conditioning, and cool-down. Every minute is used.
Where do sessions take place?
Coach O trains clients at a private facility in Syracuse, NY. Exact location provided upon booking.
Can I do boxing just for fitness?
Absolutely. Boxing conditioning is one of the most efficient full-body workouts you can do. You’ll learn real technique while burning more calories than any treadmill session — and it’s a hell of a lot more fun.
